According to an American consumer’s report, the popularity of flatbreads are on the rise One recent statistic showed that the purchase of flat bread products rose three fold in a one year period.Fabulous Flats, a major distributor of a variety of flats bread, also report that the popularity of flatbreads is on the rise. Over a year ago, Gourmet review reported the phenomena, and statistics in the United States showed that in one year, between 2005 and 2006, the sales of products with the name “flatbreads” tripled. Now, riding the surge of flatbed popularity, an old Middle Eastern form of flatbread called naan, is taking its place among other popular flatbeds that have spread to the west, such as the pita, the tortilla and the lavasch.

Naan is not actually a form of bread, it just is bread, in many Middle Eastern, Slavic and Eastern culture. Naan is a leavened bread backed over coals in a clay oven called a Tandoor.

The round bread is described as a staple in Northern India, but is also very popular in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Myanmar, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan
In the modern world, backing powder is sometimes used as a leavening agent for the naan, however, traditionally, yogurt had been used to leaven the naan, and it also provides added volume and thickness. The result is fluffy bread. that can be used for dipping soups or eaten with condiments.

Today, naan is available in America in most Indian restaurants. Offered as a bread basket appetizer, the naan is usually served with a variety of dips and condiments such as raita, (a mixture of yogurt and cucumbers). Garlic naan is a particularly tasty form of naan. The fluffy bread is dipped in ghee, with just the right amount of garlic is added to make a perfect flavor. The tasty bread is now ready to be dipped in soups or eaten with salads, or used as a scoop for the main course that will be coming along afterward.
Naan can be prepared in a number of delectable ways. One particular tasty type of naan originated in Kabul and is known as “Kabul naan.”

Our thanks to the Chaikhana, an Indian Restaurant in Montgomery County, Pa, for sponsoring this article about traditional Indian cuisine. Chaikahana features both garlic naan and Kabul naan as appetizers. And their Naan bread is baked fresh in a Tandoor. If you happen to be visiting Philadelphia, or nearby Montgomery, County, please stop in and enjoy a lunch or diner of traditional Indian cuisine. Chaikhana is located inside: the Super Fresh Arcade at 1301 Skippack Pike in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, and is convenient to King of Prussia, Ardmore, and other cities in the Main Line.

The joke is told about a man who found some lamp on the beach. As you might imagine, when he rubbed it a genie comes out and gives him a single wish. The man says that he wishes to be irresistible to women. So the genie turns him into a box of chocolates.

The Greek term theobroma means literally food of the gods. Chocolate has also been called the food of the devil; but the theological basis of this claim is obscure. Introduction to chocolate.org

Texas Foods believes that the finest beef is raised in the corn belt of the Midwest. These cattle have the optimum flavor and desirability. All of Texas Foods USDA Prime and Certified Angus Beef (CAB) is properly aged for a minimum of 21 days to bring out the optimum flavor and tenderness.
Texas Foods master butchers hand cut each steak to our customer’s specifications in our Supplier’s state-of-the-art, USDA-inspected plant.

Certified Angus Beef

The Butcher’s Breed- In 1976 the USDA lowered its beef grading standards. Older cattle and cattle with little marbling were able to qualify for Choice. Prime beef availability was also on the decline. So in 1978, Certified Angus Beef was created by the American Angus Association to bring back high standards. This USDA certified specification-branded beef was the answer to the demand for consistent, high-quality beef.
Beef must be from Angus type cattle which is known as the “Butcher’s Breed”. It must adhere to strict standards based on marbling, maturity and leanness. Less than one in eight Angus type cattle is eligible for the Certified Angus Beef program. USDA meat grading and certification service evaluates the Angus type carcass.

Certified Angus Beef product is distinctly different from and superior to beef marketed under the “Angus” and “Black Angus” names. Certified Angus Beef is the only Angus-type program approved and monitored by the American Angus Association.

Why Aged Beef?

Our Supplier, Buckhead Beef, has developed some new twists to an old idea. In the past, beef was aged in air because it took a week or more for the product to get from the slaughterhouse to the retail market, and it took even longer for the market to further process the sides of beef. Throughout this process the beef would age and at some point, people noticed that beef from air-aged carcasses was more tender and more flavorful. Since the introduction of vacuum packaging, the use of dry-aging has been reduced to the point where only a few prime shops and high-end restaurants continue the practice. Many steak cutting operations continue to age product in vacuum packaging, and this does have some impact on tenderness, wet-aging has never developed the beef flavor associated with dry-aging product.
The other reason large-scale dry-aging lost favor with most purveyors is that the process can involve considerable weight loss due to drying. Additional loss can occur due to less than immaculate sanitation causing mold and spoilage. At Buckhead Beef, strict sanitation and excellent temperature control has eliminated the loss due to mold and spoilage, and research has shown that the superior flavor, tenderness and juiciness is worth the wait for dry-aged product.

Food Safety

Buckhead Beef is fanatical about food safety. Our objective is to provide the customer with wholesome products. Part of the commitment involves purchasing from the major beef packers, utilizing a HACCP program, continuing AIB approval and following USDA guidelines. The main goal of this commitment to food safety is to control and prevent the introduction of food-bourn illnesses to our customers.

Grilling Tips

Size Does Matter! Steaks are best for grilling when they are at 1″ to 1 ½” thick. The Ribeye, New York Strip and T-Bone steaks are best for grilling; these cuts of meat are very flavorful and will not have a tendency to dry out on the grill.
Steaks should always be at room temperature before grilling
Seasoning is very important; always add a little bit of seasoning before placing the steak on grill. The perfect seasoning is just a light coat of olive oil, a dash of sea salt and a dash of pepper. Remember, a little seasoning is better than none at all.

Stick a fork in it? Never! When grilling steaks, one should always use tongs or a spatula to turn a steak over. Sticking the steak with a fork when checking for doneness or to turn it over is a bad idea. By doing this, the steak will lose juice, therefore drying out the steak.

Heat is very important! Make sure that the grill is anywhere from 600-800°F and keep it at that temperature for 5 minutes before starting to cook. High direct heat when grilling great steaks is almost as important as the meat itself.
Grilling a business gifts steak: Be careful of flare-ups with this specific cut of meat because they are more marbled than others, the fat can have a tendency to flame.

Grilling a Filet Mignon: Filets are typically some of the tenderest selections of beef available. Due to this fact is it very important not to overcook this type of steak, it typically should never be cooked beyond medium rare. The longer a filet mignon is cooked the more it loses flavor and also becomes tougher.

Grilling a steak: It is similar to a rib eye in how it is grilled, but this cut is not as marbled so it will not have tendency to flare up when in direct heat. Strip steaks are perfect for those mouth-watering grill marks that steak lovers look for.

Most importantly once you take the steak off the heat, there is carry over cooking time, meaning the steak is so hot it will continue to cook a bit on its own. Take this into account when timing the doneness of your meat.

Lastly, do NOT serve or slice the steak the minute it comes off the grill/out of the pan/out of the oven. All the juices will pour out. Wait at least 5 MINUTES before serving or slicing and your patience will be rewarded.

There are many advantages in using an outside catering firm for your event, no matter how big or small.

Its important to differentiate between catering out of doors and inside in venues that may not have facilities for the preparation of food. Both are prefect cases for using an outside catering company.

Obviously, if your venue is out doors and you plan a relaxed summer garden party barbecue for few friends, pigging out with a hearty Hog Roast or hosting a lavish themed wedding or civil partnership reception for hundreds of guests in a marquee with exquisite private catering, then you dont really have much option but to use catering companies.

The same is true if your desired venue is indoors, but may not have any kitchen or food preparation facilities at all. That could be anything from a village hall, a romantic castle, a conference room or a boat.

True, at some venues like hotels you can access the catering services they provide, whether the event uses their indoor facilities or is hosted in their gardens or grounds. These services can also be supplied at an all-inclusive rate if you book accommodation at the same place.

Usually, you are limited to the menu options they present. That situation is further complicated if your guests have a variety of dietary requirements and preferences.

Those menu options, especially for larger groups, tend to be somewhat unimaginative and there is certainly no possibility of you creating a menu tailored to exactly what you want.

Outside catering firms, at least the best ones, are specialists and will have a blend of experience, planning and attention to detail to ensure a successful occasion every time, no matter where its held. If youre looking for an event with a highly personal touch, outside catering can provide a complete private food and drink service.
They can create bespoke menus to your exact specification or budget, using seasonal and local produce if you desire.

Many outside catering firms employ Masterchefs with tremendous culinary experience who can create inspiring food to accompany fine wines and convivial cocktails. Perhaps more importantly, theyll even take care of the washing up!

Mississauga is a city that contains 600,000 peoples, there are from different places that makes Mississauga a particularly special town. Dining Mississauga is so convenience, there are many dining eateries, tons of different sort of food. To determine which is good or bad and how will we judge it? Well, primarily quality of the food is the most significant fact but, I suspect other facts are also vital such as service, interior, price and surprises.
In most of the case I might pull quality of the food and price together to evaluate is it a good dining or not, i have been into some dining that have great interior but the food that they selling don’t actually worth it, some will say they got a pleasant place so what are you complaining of? Well, the main purpose for me to come in your place is to have a good meal, well, I do mind the inside but, it’s not my main thing that I’m trying to find. And they food that they present do not even organize it, just like they are informing you, hey! Hurry up finish it and pay. Truthfully if the food is actually good, presented it to me like a skill, I will happy to accept it. I suspect quality actually equal to cost. And it is a first technique to earn the title of best dining
Service and interior takes up the second theme of a dining restaurant, some dining have a really nice interior and nice folk to serve, I totally agree it. Because nice place do makes you eat better and more enjoy. Here is one of my experience dining Mississauga walked into one of a dining in Mississauga, they got a really pleasant interior, footage, LCD screen, color, everything is really superb, but when their server comes to me, their first impression to me is, did you came back from your grave their face is similar to a zombie, they just don’t grin at you and their tone is like cursing you. But it could tell by her eyes, I think she hasn’t sleep at all . I do not really care and not fascinating what she have been throw yesterday evening, but the reality is, she don’t really respect her job a lot. The dining is great but just the service that makes the marks decrease, you might say maybe once some time it occurs, but I’m telling you i have been there more than 8 times and the service hasn’t improve at all, it makes me feel I’m walking into a zombie house to have brains. Maybe this is a pleasant looking dining but I’m sure this dining isn’t for human to get in unless you can talk zombie, it is one of the worse dining Mississauga experience I have.
A shock does make a different ; I remember there are few dining Mississauga that gave me a particularly deep impression. I have entered to a dining Mississauga that perform cooking in front of you, their chef will perform a little show in front of you while he’s cooking, and every times I went there they could perform different tricks to me and they do chat with you as well, that’s’s cause you to feel like a friend with him. Well It is just an example for surprises.
These are my paths to determent a best dining ; those stories are all happen to me at some dining in Mississauga.

The summer has come around again and it may be time to start thinking of a good old fashioned garden party.

You lease out an effective caterer to literally deal with almost every aspect of your party. Those kind of decisions can really save you a lot of money and fast. You have to be thinking of your wallet in these kinds of climates.

Many people say that you will need a detailed plan to work successfully with a caterer. For example wedding catering is a very tricky business. it takes months of provision and commitment to get one of these events correct. Making it all work smoothly is no walk in the park. In general private caterers will need certain things in place before they would even consider taking part in any sort of event. The money is obviously the most important thing to prepare however a good venue is just as important. Make sure that you hire a venue suitable to house your guests and catering staff otherwise it can be a very complicated, cramped and stressful affair.

Some caterers will not work in certain venues because they are not suitable to house catering staff to work for the event. So, it is good to do research and maybe check over with the catering staff before you put any money down getting a venue booked.

Be upfront about your wishes and be clear and straightforward to the caterer planners as this will only help speed along the process in getting everything sorted out.
Another good tip to look out for is to ask for references about your chosen caterer. It is crucial to find out whether other people have had good experiences from him/her.

The ‘Naked Chef’ was left embarrassed and frustrated yesterday at a fellow blogger who pointed out four mistakes in Jamie Oliver’s spelling. Jamie had left a detailed message on the very popular micro-blogging site, Twitter and left the following message, “anouther true story a massive amount of uk farmers use human waist as fertiliser on there land! Do any other countrys across the world do this? Is this ok.”

The blogger left a comment on Jamie’s post saying, “Not being funny fella but 4 spelling mistakes? You’re influencing a generation of young kids, you owe it them to be correct. Agree?”

The Chef who has always been seen to give support to many dyslexia programs around the country, replied: “Get lost you idiot im dyslexic and i cant spell so stick that in your pipe! its better than being smug about it.”

Oliver left high-school with no qualifications before gaining a place at Westminster Catering College where he grew his talent and passion for cooking. Little did Jamie know but he was about to be a part of an exclusive group of catering staff who have a massive influence on the countries cuisine and eating habits. Jamie Oliver has single handily changed the school dinner menu for younger kids encouraging them to eat more healthy.

After the Westminister Catering College job he worked as pastry chef at the well respected Antonio Carluccio’s restaurant in London’s Neal Street and went on to secure a place as a sous-chef at another top London restaurant, the River Cafe where he was discovered by a BBC documentary team. He then spent some time with a few friends specialising in their own private caterers business before fully committing himself to the ‘Naked Chef’ project on the BBC.

Oliver has spoken out many times about his problems with dyslexia in the past and has since regretted leaving school with no qualifications at all.

The American public is influenced to want ice cream. It is not about “subliminal messages” or anything else of an unusual nature. The public is naturally influenced by what we see and what we hear. The truth is that whatever our own personal opinion or reaction that fact may be, we cannot discount the strong influence the media has over our choice of what we purchase and consume. It affects various people in various ways, but it does in fact affect us all. One of the best effects is that it keeps both the ice cream companies and the consumers happy!

One aspect of influence is that the American public loves its celebrities. While this particular subject may not be as strong an influential factor on the older members of the population, it is one of the most important for the youngsters. Children love to emulate their favorite celebrities; and as more and more celebrities put every personal aspect of the lives in the spotlight, their likes and dislikes and preferences are all displayed for their young fans to copy.

While adults may not fully understand children’s wish to eat the same foods as their favorite stars, the fact is that it does have a very strong influence on the children’s preferences. Pop star Britney Spears, for example, lists her favorite food as Cookie Dough ice cream. The current favorite ice cream of Justin Timberlake: Baskin-Robbins Daiquiri Ice.

There is much you can do to offer your child a healthy ice cream, without all the preservatives found in most commercial ice cream. The way to do that is to invest in your own cuisinart soft serve ice cream maker, and make homemade ice cream.

Another influencing factor are television commercials. As companies such as ice cream companies pay to sponsor these advertisements, the point is to draw in as many potential customers as possible, and influence people’s choices in their ice cream purchases. While there are fewer of these televised commercials now than in the past, they continue to be a strong influencing factor.

A recent poll has shown that twenty percent of the viewers like these ads; and that more men than women like them. The most important point, though, is that these commercials do work.

One recent report has shown that Haagen-Dazs sales have risen more than three and a half percent in one year’s time. Appealing to today’s consumer, who prefers a combination of simplicity and indulgence, the Haagen-Dazs ice cream company not only creates winning ice cream, but winning television commercials.

And while the new commercial produced by Turkey Hill Dairy to advertise their new Duetto ice cream has only begun to be broadcast, so its results are not yet available, the commercial which shows painting cows to reflect the flavor swirls of the Duetto ice cream is sure to reach some degree of success in influencing consumers to try this new product.

Ice cream is popular in many media forms. This, also, is an influencing factor. When we see ice cream in movies and television shows, we want it. When we hear ice cream being sung about in popular songs, we want it. While it is unlikely that ice cream companies are behind this in any manner, they probably appreciate the influence it has on the American public’s rush to the local grocery stores to buy the ice cream products that we hear about and see.

Look into getting your own own cuisinart soft serve ice cream maker, to make delicious homemade ice cream. You can make regular, low calorie, sugar free and non-dairy ice creams.

Ice cream, America’s favorite treat, has been around for a very long time. It is believed that some form of ice cream dates back to 200 B.C. Folk lore has it that in the 1st Century, Roman Emperor Nero ordered his slaves to bring ice from the mountains to make his iced mixture with fruit topping.

Another form of ice cream was made by King Tang of China (A. D. 618-97). He combined ice and milk. From China ice cream was brought to Europe when, in the 1200’s Marco Polo had brought an ice cream sorbet recipe back with him to Europe from the Far East. The recipe called for the ingredients snow and milk. Ice cream was later imported from Europe to the United States where it was served by Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson to their guests.

In New York City, in 1776, the first ice cream parlor was opened. The word ice cream was started by the American Colonists. They first called it “iced” cream and it was later shortened to “ice” cream. In 1777 Philip Lenzi, a confectioner, placed the first newspaper advertisement for ice cream in the New York Gazette.

When First Lady Dolly Madison was in the white house from 1809 to 1817, she served ice cream to guests. Ice cream was even served to immigrants as part of their meal when they arrived at Ellis Island.

The hand crank ice cream maker or freezer was invented in 1846 by Nancy Johnson. Today, ice cream is still made using the basic method of the hand-crank ice cream freezer. In 1848 a similar ice cream freezer, the Johnson Patent Ice-Cream Freezer was patented. By 1850 ice cream had become a popular treat. It wasn’t until 1851 that Jacob Fussell’s Baltimore Company began to manufacture and market ice cream commercially.

It isn’t clear who or when someone realized that mixing the cream in a small pewter pot inside of a larger pot filled with salt mixed with ice would lower the temperature of the ingredients. The wooden freezer bucket and paddles would open the way for the larger-scale manufacture of ice cream.

Historians disagree on when the ice cream cone was invented. It has been said that the ice cream cone was invented in St. Louis, Missouri in 1904 when on July 23 Charles E. Minches thought of making a pastry cone and filled it with two ice cream scoops. The ice cream cone first appeared at the St. Louis World’s Fair later in the year where, historians believe, there were more than 50 ice cream cone vendors.

Historians also believe that before the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, metal and paper cones were being used. England was also already selling edible ice cream cones. Another theory is that prior to the 1904 World’s Fair, an ice cream vendor from New York City had grown tired of customers pilfering his serving dishes, so he invented an ice cream cone in 1896.

In 1926 Clarence Vogt came up with a process of continuously freezing ice cream for the commercial manufacturing of ice cream. By the 1930’s ice cream had a huge increase in popularity and many flavors of ice cream and sherbets had become available.

Today, commercial businesses can purchase a Taylor soft serve ice cream machine. Taylor soft serve ice cream machine processes ice cream mix in a hopper and serves soft serve ice cream on the spot.

By the 20th Century many flavors of ice cream were being sold on a large scale in grocery stores, supermarkets and ice-cream franchises. With the many flavors of ice cream available in supermarkets and eateries, vanilla is still America’s favorite and chocolate is the second favorite flavor of ice cream.
